Dr. Eitan Okun will present “The Future of Treating Memory Decline: Developing a Vaccine for Alzheimer’s Disease” in the Chiang Auditorium at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

The event is the culmination of a year of centennial events celebrating the Jewish Home Family’s 100 years of service to the community. It will include a 6 p.m. buffet dinner, followed by the lecture at 6:45 p.m.

The organizations are working in partnership with American Friends of Bar-Ilan University. Okun and his team developed novel interventions toward earlier detection and delay of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and ischemic brain stroke.

“We have a lot of events throughout the year,” said Ezra HaLevi, the home's director of communications and outreach. "That includes a a screening of award-winning documentaries about dementia."

“Our mission for the Jewish Home is to help seniors age at home safely with the best quality of life and independence as possible" said Susan Lilly, a licensed social worker and director of care management services at the Jewish Home. "We look at the wholeness of their life and the families’ needs for support and education, so we are a very robust organization.”

The meal will follow Jewish dietary laws. The event is free of charge, but RSVPs are required.
